origin of Irish red setter comes to Ireland and 1700´s when
it was started to be bred with early spaniels and pointers. At
the beginning the breed was white with red markings on the coat,
but later on the red dogs "madra rua - as Irish called them"
became more popular.
Today
irish red setter is popular especially as companion dog. It is
still used in hunting as pointing dog. The dogs beauty has also
made it as an gorgeous look in the dogshows. Irish setters compete
also with success in agility, obedience trials etc. It is also
known that the policeforces of Chile tested irish setters as workdogs.
In
household setter is an pleasant companion, even its requirement
for activity has to be considered. It needs activity for its brains
and for its body. By its nature it is happy and usually easy to
train, but it still has insticts towards game what has to be considered.
Setter is usually good with children. Setter seeks for play, and
faster than most of the dogbreeds it thrills for runs around slower
